The new construction Tianjin to Zhanan Railway runs through the eastern part of Hebei Province, spanning the cities of Tianjin and Zhanan. The total route length is 208.207 kilometers, classified as a Grade I national railway, single-track electrified line, designed for a maximum speed of 160 km/h.It is a key project identified in both the national long-term railway network plan and Hebei Province’s '14th Five-Year' railway development plan. It also serves as a crucial infrastructure initiative supporting Hebei Province’s strategic vision of 'strengthening eastward connectivity, focusing on westward development, deepening southern expansion, and promoting northern advancement'.Alsothe first railway independently funded and constructed by Hebei Province.

The TLZB-2 section covers a total length of 104.48 kilometers, extending from Chengyi Station (excluding) to Zhanan Section (including the new construction Zhanan West Station diversion line and the reconstruction project connecting to the Zhanan West Station).

The planned construction period for the Tianjin-Zhanan Railway is 5.5 years. As a core measure of Hebei Province’s 'deepen southern expansion' strategy, this railway will play a pivotal role in future regional rail development, acting as a critical north-south connector and strategic link. Upon completion, it will connect the Beijing-Tianjin Bridge Expressway and the Tianping Railway to the south, and link the Jingyuan Expressway to the north. Northbound, it will extend via the Tianping–Dongzhong–Baoyuan Expressway through the Ninghe Plain and Inner Mongolia River Basin areas to reach northern border regions. Southbound, it will access the northern sea outlet directly through the western Hainan New Expressway. This will establish a vital national corridor for cross-river and maritime transportation, significantly redefining the railway network layout in eastern and southern China, greatly accelerating regional socio-economic development, and making substantial contributions to national strategic support, regional coordinated development, land resource exploitation, border livelihood protection, and the comprehensive improvement of transportation networks.
