Transport Department's Key Tasks for 2025: Promoting Railway, Road, and Other Priority Areas of Reform

Recently, the Ministry of Transport convened a leading group meeting on comprehensive deepening reform, reviewed work in 2024, and announced the department's key tasks for 2025. The Minister of Transport, Party Secretary, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting emphasized the need to further highlight breakthroughs in priority areas, using comprehensive transportation system reform as a driving force to advance reforms in railways, roads, waterways, civil aviation, and postal services.

The meeting stressed the importance of thoroughly studying and understanding General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of new ideas, perspectives, and judgments on comprehensive deepening reform, integrating them with the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and aligning with the major discussions on building a strong transportation nation. By deeply studying, integrating knowledge across levels, and strengthening political awareness, ideological insight, and action initiative, we must ensure that transportation reform consistently advances along the correct political direction.

The meeting emphasized the need to strengthen systematic integration, fully leverage market mechanisms' decisive role in resource allocation, better harness government functions, adopt scientific methods to drive reform, enhance the systemic, holistic, and coordinated nature of reform, promote integrated planning across regions, seamless connectivity across modes, and coordinated development across sectors, improve governance capacity and standards in transportation, and provide strong support and institutional safeguards for accelerating the construction of a strong transportation nation.

The meeting stressed the need to further focus on breakthroughs, using comprehensive transportation system reform as a driving force to advance reforms in railways, roads, waterways, civil aviation, and postal services. Identify key entry points, resolutely break through institutional barriers restricting high-quality development in transportation, promote targeted, practical, and effective reform measures, evaluate reform progress based on real outcomes and public satisfaction, and genuinely enable the people to continuously gain a sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security from reform efforts.
